We are happy to introduce three new Swedish red bulls after the latest breeding evaluation last week.
New proofs,
Swedish Red
New bulls
2124 Ullforsbro (Ino x Ingvasta) is a new
interesting top Swedish red bull and transmits excellent production-, health-
and confirmation traits to his daughters. The bull has a TMI of +25. The dam to
Ullforsbro, 301 Rosetta, was a fantastic cow for both production and
confirmation. She left the herd after 11 years and had then produced almost
110 000
kg ECM. She had also excellent type and is scored as
follow; Type 88, Udder 88,
Feet & Legs 87, and Total 88. In 2003 after her fifth
calf the cow got an award for the highest producing Swedish Red cow in one area
in Sweden from the local Swedish Red
Breed club. Her production was then 15 229 kg, 4, 3% F and 3, 4%
P.
2112
Arbelunda (Flaka x Abru)is the next new bull with a TMI of
+24. The bull breeds excellent daughter fertility and mastitis resistant along
with calving ease. His daughters have shallow udders with high rear udders and
parallel legs. Arbelunda’s only fault is that he gives a bit lower production
than average, production index is 97. The dam of the bull is from the Danish
bull Abru. She had 5 calves with a
calving interval of 12.6 months – in average she produced 12 410 kg milk 4, 1%
fat and 3, 4% protein per lactation with an excellent udder health.
1916 Melby Vättergård x Tomta). Melby’s TMI is +22 with a strong
health and confirmation profile. This bull transmits easy calvings, good udder
health, longevity with very good udders and legs to his daughters. His only
problem is that he is a bit low on milk – giving him a production index of
103.Melby’s dam, 541 Dolly, is
still alive – a fantastic Tomta cow! She calved the first time in the age of 23
months and expecting her ninth calf in August. The calving interval is 13.2
months and that is in spite of some embryo flushings. Two of the embryos were
sold on the World Ayshire Conference in UK 2000 and the buyers were from
Australia. The average production
during 8 years and 7 months is 11541 kg, 4, 1% F and 3, 4% P. She
has had an excellent udder health and 92 % of all the milk recording tests have
been in the best udder health class.
