Hereford cattle are good grazers and have for centuries been selected to use feed from poorer pastures. They are easy to keep, calm and easy to handle. The Herefords have very easy calvings, which even more underline their reputation as an easy managed breed. The Hereford cows have excellent maternal traits and take well care of their calves. Growth rates are of cause of high importance and Hereford breed has tested a high number of bulls at the performance test station since the start in the 1960. This has led to a successful genetic improvement of the growth rates and Hereford is one of the three breeds with the highest daily weight gain in Sweden today.
