History
New breeding society with more than 50 years’ experience
For more than 50 years, we have focused on the most important traits in our breeding programme: yield, fertility, udder health, other health traits, calving ease, birth index, mammary system, feet and legs, and longevity.
This has been possible because of the high number of recording herds in Denmark, Sweden and Finland – accounting for 90% of the cow population – and the unique cow data-base collecting data on pedigree, milk recording, veterinary treatments, calving difficulties, slaughter results, conformation scores, reasons for culling, claw registrations etc. Our success in the field of breeding work is evident. Today, VikingGenetics is among the market leaders in cattle breeding, and each year we sell 3.8 mil. doses of semen to more than 50 countries worldwide.
